His journey in football has not been easy at the start, he was rejected by various youth clubs due to his physical frame, until 2005 when he was recognized by Real Sociedad, where he spent 4 years. He started out playing in a wide position and converted to a more central role after leaving Sociedad.

Griezmann won the Europa League with Atletico while also lifting the Supercopa de Espana and the UEFA Super Cup. He was also part of France's 2018 World Cup-winning side and was named man of the match in the final.

He bagged 6 in 2016 Euro where he won the Golden Boot and was also named the tournament's best player, although France lost 1-0 to Portugal in the final.

After losing in 2016, France entered Euro 2020 as World Champions and bookies favourites. They started well and finished top of their group which contained both Germany and Portugal despite drawing 1-1 with Hungary - Griezmann's second half equaliser turned out to be his only goal of the tournament.

Their first-placed finish in the group saw them pitted against Switzerland in the round of 16, but after going 3-1 up, a late comeback by the Swiss ensured the game went to extra time and then penalties.

Having been substituted in the 88th minute, Griezmann was unable to be selected for the penalties, and France eventually bowed out of the tournament following Kylian Mbappe's saved effort in the shootout.
